DUBAI-FIRST TRIP

I was notified that I would have to leave the country because my visa was expiring. After I left my sponsor company would apply for a new visa upon my return.

My friend Ole and his family live in Dubai, and this would give me a chance to reconnect after 32 years.

I booked my flight on Emirates and my hotel. I decide to stay at the Hilton Jumiea resort, which is located on the JBR walk.

The first day I arrived, Ole took me to the old city fishing village and then over to Atlantis resort.

The second day we went to the Duba mall, which is the largest in the world. They have every store you can think of, to include an ice rink, the largest indoor aquarium and shooting water fountains that react to music.

The last day Ole left on a flight, soI was on my own.

I went to the marina area, and had dinner and a drink at the Budha bar. It was really cool, with a huge Budha in the main dining room.

Dubai is really nice, lots to do and I will be back again.

DOWNTOWN AND FISHMARKET

Today I took to the roads and went for a ride into Kuwait City. I takes about 30 minutes from where I live to reach downtown.

I stopped along the way at different spots.

I ended up at the fish market. I think I was the only Expat there. I stopped and shared some of my fishing photos with two men, they seemed to like them.

There is a lot of construction everywhere; it reminds me of Peru.

The grocery stores have everything you can imagine, and items that are hard to find in the states.

ANOTHER OUTING

Today I went with one of the guys that works for me and his Russian Fiance. They were nice and allowed me to tag along on there shopping trip.

We went back to the Avenues mall.

This place has every store and eatery that you can imagine. The place smells of perfume, because every where there are sales people trying to squirt you in hopes you will purchase.

Everything is super expensive with the exception of food and coffee.

Here are some shots.

DAY OFF

Well I woke up at 0415 to get ready for work. I went downstatirs and knowone was there. I looked at my watch and realized I was off today.

Oh well.

I fixed some breakfast, called Tammy and then fell asleep on the coach.

I am going to the new mall and will post some more pictures when I get home.
